How to become a Sponsor!

Sponsor information

Southern Thunder is a two-day regional sport rocketry event that is consistently proclaimed the greatest rocket launch in the Southeastern U.S.  In fact, Sport Rocketry Magazine ranks our event as one of the top 10 regional launches in the United States. Our one square mile field is located on a sod farm owned by another sponsor, Mid-Tenn Turf of Manchester, Tennessee.  Manchester is also the home of the Bonnaroo Music Festival.

Southern Thunder is organized by three regional clubs, the Music City Missile Club (Tennessee), the Huntsville Area Rocketry Association (Alabama) and Southern Area Rocketry (Georgia). These clubs are affiliated with the two major national and international rocketry associations (the National Association of Rocketry and the Tripoli Rocketry Association, an international group).  Each year, more than 200 rocketeers and their families attend the event, watching over 400 flights ranging in altitude from a few hundred feet to over 2 miles.  This year, Southern Thunder 2017 will take place on Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th.

A local club and 2017 lead coordinator, the Music City Missile Club (MC2), represents members from Middle and Eastern Tennessee and Alabama.  A proud member of the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce, MC2 conducts monthly launches attended by the three clubs and students from colleges including: Vanderbilt, Fisk, the University of Tennessee, the University of Alabama, the University of Louisville, the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State, Tennessee Tech and Georgia Tech.  We support NASA's Student Launch Initiative, a university level rocketry competition.  MC2  supports the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC).    We also actively support the scientific activities of organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs in local schools. The proceeds from this event allows these programs to continue.

Sponsorship means supporting the event with either a $50.00 monetary donation, a $50.00 donation of merchandise for our raffle or a combination of the two.  In exchange for your support, your logo will be displayed prominently at the event on a special banner directly in front of the flight line. This banner will also be displayed at every subsequent launch until the following June when it is replaced by the banner for Southern Thunder 2018.  Of course we will be grateful for any support received and will recognize all sponsors and any donors on the MC2 website and MC2 Facebook page. To display your logo on our banner, we must have a response by June 11th, 2017.  Please forward your logo as a vector art file ( .ai, .eps, .svg or .pdf extension) to mc2admin@mc2rocketry.com.  Send merchandise and/or checks (made out to "Music City Missile Club") to:
